Overseas Student

Health Cover (OSHC)

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is a mandatory requirement for all international students holding a student visa in Australia. Students must maintain valid OSHC for the entire duration of their stay, as part of visa conditions. OSHC is a form of private health insurance that assists with the cost of medical and hospital care if you become ill or have an accident while in Australia.

OSHC Provider

Students may choose to arrange their own Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) with an approved provider. Please note that valid OSHC evidence must be provided before a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) can be issued. Alternatively, AIIHE can assist in arranging OSHC on the student’s behalf.

OSHC Duration Requirements

Your OSHC policy must cover the full duration of your student visa, not just your course dates.

  • Cover typically starts before course commencement
  • Cover must extend until the end of your visa period
  • If your visa is extended, your OSHC must also be extended

Further Information

For comprehensive details on Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), including policy coverage, costs, and claims processes, please refer to your chosen OSHC provider or the Department of Home Affairs website (https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/).

AIIHE is committed to supporting your health and wellbeing throughout your studies in Australia. Students are encouraged to ensure appropriate OSHC arrangements are in place prior to commencement.

Should you require further assistance, please contact our Student Services team, who will be happy to assist you.
