This unit introduces students to the principles and practices of Business Process Reengineering (BPR) and Business Process Management (BPM) as methods for improving organisational efficiency and performance. Students will examine the need for process improvement, analyse existing processes, and apply established frameworks to redesign workflows across different business functions. The unit covers the essential steps and standards of business process modelling, including the use of BPMN notation to document and evaluate processes. Students will also explore process and workflow management, the process lifecycle, and how organisational structures influence reengineering efforts. Attention is given to the role of change management in implementing BPR initiatives and the ways advanced technologies support process redesign and innovation. By the end of the unit, students will be able to model, assess, and propose improvements to business processes that align with organisational goals.
